I don’t watch much football, but I know that the Broncos coach here won 2 Super Bowls. That’s why a lot of people here were shocked when he got fired today after coaching here for 14 years. Everyone here is Denver is talking about it and didn’t see it coming. But, I guess in sports it’s more ‘what have you done for me lately’ than what you have done in the past. Since the Broncos should have made the playoffs this year and didn’t because they lost the last 3 games, he is gone. My hubby said he is happy because he said he was overrated as a coach. We will see how a new coach does next year and find out if firing Mike Shanahan was the right move.

My sister-in-law invited us to have dinner at their house for Christmas Eve.  So, we went down there late in the afternoon today.  They live about 20 miles south of us, so it only takes less than half an hour to get there.  I remember two years ago, the weather was so bad in Denver, we couldn’t make it down there because we had a couple of feet of snow before Christmas and it was really cold.  Anyway, we went down there and visited with their family.  Rachel was wearing her fancy new formal dressfor Christmas and her “Santa” hat.  She looked really pretty and was excited to see everyone.  After we had a nice dinner, we played a gift game.  Their was one gift for each of us, but before we opened all the gifts, we all drew a number out of a hat.  Then we opened the gifts in the order of the number we had lowest to highest.  When it was our turn, then we could “steal” a gift that was already opened or open a new gift.  We had a blast playing this gift game and everyone got something they were really happy with when we were all done.  Well, tomorrow is the big day, Christmas, and we are really excited to share it with our family and especially Rachel.

Our daughter, Rachel, is learning some things really fast. She just turned one year old last month. I was getting ready to clean her ears with a Q-tip earlier today. Rachel grabbed the Q-tip before I did and immediately put it in her ear. It was pretty funny and amazing, because she had never even touched a Q-tip before. I guess she has always seen me do the same thing with it, so she was just copying what she saw me do many times over. Another thing she did that was surprising, was when I was putting her pajamas on her last night. She had a small hairbrush in her right hand. Then, I started to put her pajamas on, I put her left arm in first. Then, she knew I had to put her right arm in, so she put the brush from her right hand into her left hand. My hubby and I look at each other with amazement that she so quickly figured out I couldn’t  put the pajamas on with the brush in her hand. At such a young age, it’s truly incredible how fast they learn what to do in certain circumstances.
